Joanna M. Sexter, MD, FAAP
A native Washingtonian, Dr. Sexter completed her undergraduate studies at Tufts University in 1992 where she received a B.A. in Child Study. She then earned her medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine in 1997. She completed her pediatric residency at Georgetown University Hospital in 2000 where she was recognized as Resident of the Year.
Dr. Sexter is a board-certified pediatrician and has been in private practice in Washington, DC since 2000. Her practice philosophy emphasizes preventive medicine and health maintenance through education, physical examination and immunizations. Dr. Sexter is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the DC Osler Medical Society. She continues to be recognized as one of The Washingtonian Magazine’s Top Doctors in Pediatrics.
Dr. Sexter is a member of the medical staff at Sibley Memorial Hospital and Children's Hospital, and is a Clinical Instructor on staff at Georgetown University Hospital and GW Hospital. She currently resides in Rockville, MD with her husband and their two children. Personal interests include ballet, skiing, hiking, and world travel. Dr. Sexter looks forward to forming and maintaining long-lasting relationships with you and your family.
